SHC-L / Velvet

Each 'Velvet' variant has its own unique randomized striping due to hand-inking of the filament before printing.

The Spinal Hair Clip - Large (SHC-L) is a functional hair clip sculpted into a low-poly human spine. The 'Velvet' variant of the SHC refers to its deep red colour with hints of purple and the blood soaked antlers when deer shed their velvet. This hair clip size is generally suited for those with longer thicker hair or larger head sizes. Each hair clip is hand-finished for ~1 hour.

The durable body of the hair clip is made with two different materials, a softer 95A Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and a rigid 72D Composite material made of TPU and Nylon. The spinous processes in the back are softer to help cushion impacts from drops and head bumps. The teeth of the hair clip, inner and outer, are rigid to help with hair penetration and hold. All hardware is stainless steel. 

The first hair clip with quad springs. I designed this unique mechanism to preserve the anatomical features of the spine whilst allowing the hair clip to be functional. The clip operates intuitively via a finger groove sculpted into the 4th vertebra, retaining the ergonomics of a standard hair clip despite its complex geometry.
